LA PUNTA: INNOVATION, NATURE, AND PROJECTION IN THE HEART OF SAN LUIS

Introduction

La Punta is one of Argentina's most avant-garde young and planned cities. Born in the 21st century under the concepts of modernity and strategic development, our city represents a model of urban management where demographic growth, cutting-edge technology, and absolute respect for the natural environment coexist harmoniously. Located at the foot of the Sierras de San Luis, La Punta is the main hub of educational and technological innovation in the region, consolidating itself at the same time as a model municipality in sustainability policies and a key emerging destination for conscious and quality tourism.

Geography and Climate

Geographically, the city of La Punta is located 20 kilometers from the provincial capital. Situated at about 830 meters above sea level, its urban layout unfolds over a valley surrounded by the imposing mountain range, which gives it a unique landscape of great scenic and environmental value.

In climatic terms, it is characterized by a temperate and semi-arid climate, with warm summers and moderate, dry winters.

Quality of Life

The city has a robust public services infrastructure, planned from its foundations to guarantee the well-being of its inhabitants and mitigate environmental impact. La Punta features an urban design that integrates potable water networks, sewers, electrical energy, low-consumption LED lighting, and high-speed fiber optic connectivity throughout its jurisdiction. It has the La Punta hospital called Hospital "Dra. María Juliana Becker". It is located in the city of La Punta, San Luis province. The health center is a fundamental pillar of the community. It was internationally recognized by the WHO and UNICEF as a "Mother and Child Friendly Center." The quality of life is enhanced by a cutting-edge primary health care system and a connected network of green spaces, healthy plazas, playgrounds, and bike paths that promote sustainable mobility and outdoor living. Likewise, security and territorial planning make La Punta a safe, resilient, and optimal environment for family, professional, and recreational development.

Institutional Linkages and Development Hubs

La Punta stands out for a very high-level institutional framework, unique in the region, where the public sector, academia, and scientific-technological development interact to enhance local capabilities.

Universidad de La Punta (ULP): The heart of the province's intellectual development, it is a pioneering institution dedicated to the knowledge economy, robotics, audiovisual arts, and digital training, transforming the city into a magnet for young talents from all over the country.

Its campus houses the:

Parque de la Industria del Conocimiento (PIC) —historically known as Parque Informático La Punta (PILP)— where prominent National and International Technology companies are located.

Internet and Connectivity: La Punta stands out for its historical digital inclusion policy promoted through the Universidad de La Punta, boasting an extensive telecommunications infrastructure network. This connectivity makes it an ideal destination for processing temporary residency as a Digital Nomad, regulated in Article 24, subsection h, of Law N.º 25.871 and regulated by Decree N.º 616/2010.

Internet access in La Punta is guaranteed by the Promotion Regime for Free Wireless Internet Access (Provincial Law N° VII-0635-2008). This service allows free browsing in public spaces, plazas, and, if you have the adequate infrastructure, within your home.

Centro de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo (CARD): A world-class elite infrastructure designed for the evaluation, training, and development of representative athletes. Its presence positions La Punta as a venue for national and international sporting events, integrating sport as a pillar of public health and event tourism.

Parque Astronómico La Punta (PALP): An internationally renowned scientific and educational outreach complex. Designed to bring science closer to the community and visitors in an interactive and environmentally friendly way, it features a fixed planetarium, the "Buenaventura Suárez" Astronomical Observatory, equipped with state-of-the-art technology for day and night observations, and the "Solar de las Miradas," an outdoor space that recreates pre-telescopic instruments.

The factory also functions as a textile art school and a tourist attraction where visitors can observe the meticulous production process live, merging historical memory with the generation of genuine employment and sustainable cultural tourism.

Réplica del Cabildo Histórico y de la Casa de Tucumán: Architectural monuments that accurately recreate our national history, consolidating an indispensable cultural and heritage hub for civic tourism in the province.
