Overview

Paraná: a productive, connected, and innovative capital

Paraná is the capital of Entre Ríos and one of the main urban and productive centers of the Argentine litoral. With approximately 270,000 inhabitants, it integrates, along with Santa Fe, a regional metropolitan market of 11 localities and more than 842,000 people.

Its location on the Paraná River and its connection to the country's main productive and logistical corridors strategically position it within the Argentine agro-industrial corridor, with access to the Paraná-Paraguay Waterway and the main agro-exporting ports.

The city combines a solid productive tradition with a growing ecosystem linked to industry, technology, specialized services, and the knowledge economy.

Geography and connectivity

Paraná is located 375 km from Buenos Aires, 348 km from Córdoba, and 200 km from Rosario. Its connectivity is articulated through National Routes 12, 18, and 168, Provincial Route 11, and the Raúl Uranga–Carlos Sylvestre Begnis Subfluvial Tunnel, which directly links it with Santa Fe.

It has the General Justo José de Urquiza Airport and is located 45 km from Sauce Viejo Airport.

Productive profile

Paraná has a diversified productive matrix, with a strong agro-industrial and food tradition complemented by industrial, metal-mechanical, packaging, specialized services, and knowledge economy activities.

Agro-industry represents approximately 25% of local manufacturing employment. The city also has a 26-hectare Municipal Horticultural Park specialized in leafy vegetable production.

The General Manuel Belgrano Industrial Park, with 170 hectares, currently houses 50 companies, while another 3 are under construction, 6 are expanding, and 2 are in the adjudication process.

Human capital and innovation

The city has an important educational and scientific network integrated by the National University of Entre Ríos (UNER), Autonomous University of Entre Ríos (UADER), National Technological University – Paraná Regional Faculty, Catholic University of Argentina – Paraná Campus, and Siglo 21 University.

74% of employed individuals have completed secondary education, and 44.7% are studying or have studied higher education careers.

This availability of talent and knowledge favors the development of activities linked to innovation, technology, and professional services.

Quality of life

Paraná offers a balanced urban environment, with ample green spaces, service infrastructure, cultural offerings, and a strong relationship with the river.

The city has emblematic spaces such as Urquiza Park, the Upper and Lower Costanera, the Municipal Islet, the Historic Center, and the Botanical Park.

Its cultural and recreational offerings include the National Mate Festival and various gastronomic, cultural, and sports proposals. The river also sustains an important tradition of nautical activities, such as rowing, canoeing, and sailing.

Infrastructure and sustainability

Paraná has digital connectivity through high-speed networks and fiber optics, as well as electricity and natural gas supply.

Regarding energy transition, the Municipality allocated 10 hectares for the construction of a Municipal Photovoltaic Park with 10,000 panels, with an estimated generation of 18 GWh annually, equivalent to 5% of the city's total consumption.

The articulation between infrastructure, connectivity, human capital, and quality of life creates favorable conditions for the establishment and expansion of companies.
