The city of La Paz is located northwest of the province of Entre Ríos, on the banks of the Paraná River.
It is situated at the confluence of the Cabayú Cuatiá stream with the Paraná River. It is connected by National Route 12, 169 km from the provincial capital (Paraná) and 515 km from Buenos Aires.
La Paz is known for its coastal landscapes, enormous ravines over the Paraná River, and its unparalleled sunsets. It also features a complex of natural thermal waters and a great fishing tradition.
The site was known in the 18th century as the anchorage or reduction of Cabayú Cuatiá, a natural port used by natives and later by Spanish navigators to embark products.
Its foundation was formally established on July 13, 1835, by a decree from Governor Pascual Echagüe, under the name Villa de La Paz in honor of the Virgin of Peace.
